Seven Bends of Shenandoah River
from Woodstock Tower

photo by Diane Elliott of 2000.shenandoah.com

Special Note: The Woodstock Tower Road is not accessible to trailers, motor homes or RVs due to sharp curves and steep grades. This road is also closed when weather conditions warrant.

Standing sentinel  over the far flung northern ranges of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, this tower, located on one of the highest peaks of the Massanutten Range reveals, from its elevation of 2000 feet, an expansive panorama of Northern Virginia.

In every direction you can see forests,  towns and mountain ranges...the seven bends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, and acres of national forest lands. Leading to the tower are footpaths that wind through the woods allowing a glimpse of what the forest has to offer. Below the tower on the west slope of the mountain there is a hang-glider launch site. When wind conditions are right, hang-gliders slide silently by below the tower. Come and enjoy the spectacular views... and scenic trail!
