The city limits are 9
square miles and has a population of 13,500 in the last census.
POINTS OF INTEREST FOUND IN FRONT ROYAL: Skyline Drive 105 mile scenic drive from Front Royal to Waynesboro, Virginia. There are 4 entry/exit points along the way. The drive runs along the ridge of the entire length of the Shenandoah National Park. There are parking overlooks along the way providing views of the Piedmont on the east and the Shenandoah Valley to the West. One site along the way is a 610-ft. tunnel that runs through solid rock not far from Thornton's Gap.
Shenandoah National Park The entrance to Shenandoah National Park is approximately 1/4 mile from Front Royal. SNP became a national park in 1936.

Skyline Caverns
Skyline Caverns was discovered in 1937. Skyline Caverns offers above ground tours on a miniature train. These caverns contain Calcite formations known as Anthodites or cave flowers. Also features The Shrine, The Capitol Dome, Fairyland Lake, The Wishing Well, Flowstone, Cathedral Hall and Rainbow Falls (37 feet). These unique formations are rarely found in caves worldwide. Minutes from the intersections of I-81 and I-66. Only one mile from northern entrance of the Skyline Drive. Skyline Caverns is open 365 days a year and located approximately 1 hour from Washington, DC.

Mosby Monument: erected in 1899 to commemorate the lives of 7 John S. Mosby's Rangers who were executed in
Front Royal in September 1864. Soldier's Circle: a circular lot at the top of the hill where lie the remains of 276 soldiers representing each of the 13 states of the Confederacy. Stonewall Jackson directed troops during the Battle of Front Royal on May 23, 1862.
